Marcia de Souza Lima is an ophthalmologist with extensive experience in medical affairs and clinical development programs in the USA, Europe, and other regions. Her most recent positions were Global Medical Affairs Head, Ophthalmology at Shire/Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Chief Medical Officer at Oculis SA, and Head, Medical Affairs of the Cell and Gene therapy business unit at Santen Pharmaceuticals.
She has worked at Ancile Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, Pfizer, Baush+Lomb, and Regenxbio in roles ranging from medical and clinical research expert to senior executive leader. She has managed global teams of up to 100 employees, and her experience includes working on pharmaceutical, biologics, and device programs. She also served as the Chief Medical Officer of The ReLeef Initiative, a nonprofit startup pharmaceutical company.

Marcia received her medical degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and furthered her clinical research studies at the Shiley Eye Center, University of California, San Diego. She also holds a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, she practiced medical and surgical ophthalmology for a decade.
